Modern/Contemporary

Allow yourself to move freely and explore one of today’s most popular and evolving dance styles.

Modern/Contemporary Dance bridges the gap between Jazz and Ballet, offering a fluid movement style and encouraging creative thinking. This form of dance often shares emotive storylines, encouraging students to express themselves through movements. While it is less ‘rigid’ than Ballet, Modern/Contemporary dance still requires students to build a strong technical foundation. Our Modern/Contemporary students will explore various styles such as Limon, Graham and Alexander techniques, as well as develop improvisation/contact improvisation skills.

We offer Modern/Contemporary classes for students who are at least 10 years old and in a minimum of Pre-Intermediate 2 Jazz and Grade 4 Ballet. *Prerequisite – Students must be taking both Jazz and Ballet in order to take a Modern/Contemporary class. All of our 6 Month and 10 Month Modern/Contemporary classes will have an opportunity to perform in the Year-End Performance.

Hip Hop

Bust out those moves and feel the music!

Our Hip Hop classes focus on today’s newest and popular music and styles of Hip Hop dance. Our students will gain a sense of rhythm and musicality, develop their personal style and performance skills, learn to pick up and perform combinations and choreography and learn some of the fundamentals of Hip Hop dance. Students may explore the styles and fundamentals of Breakin’, House, Lockin’, Poppin’ and more. We offer Hip Hop classes for ages 3 & up. All our 6 Month and 10 Month Hip Hop classes will have the opportunity to perform in the Year-End Performance.

Our students will develop their self-expression and performance skills, gain a sense of musicality, work on the technical aspects of both Jazz and Ballet dance and explore improvisation/contact improvisation. We offer Lyrical classes for students who are at least 10 years old and in a minimum of Pre-Intermediate 2 Jazz and Grade 4 Ballet. *Prerequisite – Students must be taking both Jazz and Ballet in order to take a Lyrical class.
