Tanya Chumak grew up in Calgary and began dancing at the age of three. She decided to pursue her love of ballet by training at the School of Alberta Ballet full time. She completed her advanced 2 Cecchetti exam by age 16, which is the highest major examination in the Cecchetti method. After high school she joined the professional graduate program at the School of Alberta Ballet to further her training. She was also selected to compete in the Cecchetti International Classical Ballet Competition. Upon graduation Tanya received a contract to dance professionally with New York Theatre Ballet. She danced in New York for two years and then returned to Calgary. She is currently dancing professionally with Alberta Ballet and is going into her fourth season. She has also been teaching and choreographing at Soul to Sole for the past six years. Tanya is passionate about teaching the students at Soul to Sole and enjoys the rewarding experience!
